Protect your Peace: Tips to Navigate Chaotic Times
This has been a hard week. Millions of us here in America are witnessing a complete regression of the social progress we have made over the last 70 years. I know it’s hard to comprehend and I know with so much happening here and all over the world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or even hopeless. I often remind my clients and myself, that while we cannot control the outer world, we can cultivate inner peace and resilience.
I want to share some simple, yet powerful, ways to stay rooted in compassion without falling into emotional exhaustion with you - print this out if you can and reference it when you need to!
Set Boundaries with the News and Social Media – Stay informed, but limit your exposure to distressing headlines. Choose a specific time to check updates rather than consuming a constant stream of negativity. It can also help to unfollow or block content that triggers you and causes you to panic. It’s best to keep your social media feed filled with things that bring you peace and happiness - inspiring quotes, cute animals, recipes, DIY projects, travel, etc.
Ground Yourself Daily – Whether it’s through meditation, yoga, a walk in nature, journaling, or deep breathing, find a practice that brings you back to the present moment. Having a go-to meditation that you can easily access on your phone when you feel anxious is a must!
Connect with Your Spiritual Practices – Utilizing astrology, tarot, crystal work, affirmations or simply setting intentions each morning can help you feel anchored and in alignment with your higher self.
Be a Beacon of Compassion – Small acts of kindness and understanding shared with strangers and loved ones can ripple out in powerful ways. Support causes you care about, but also remember that healing starts within.
Honor Your Emotions, but Don’t Drown in Them – It’s okay to feel sadness, frustration, or grief, but don’t let these emotions consume you and take away your power. Allow them to pass through and transmute them into action or self-care.
Surround Yourself with Uplifting Energy – Curate your environment with music, books, candles, flowers, and people who inspire hope and strength. Seek out conversations that nourish your energy rather than drain it.
Build Community – Connect with like-minded individuals who uplift and support you. Whether through online groups, local gatherings, or close friendships, a strong community can help you feel seen, heard, and empowered.
Now, more than ever, your light is needed. Protect your energy, hold space for yourself, believe in your power, and trust that you are exactly where you need to be.
