Six Ways to Honor the Summer Solstice!

On June 21st, nature reaches its zenith of energy and abundance during the Summer Solstice also known as the celebration of Midsummer and Litha! This celestial event, marking the longest day and shortest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, has been celebrated by cultures across the globe for centuries.

With a profound connection to nature and the changing seasons, the Summer Solstice is a time to rejoice in the beauty of the natural world and honor the sun's life-giving power. This day is also about recognizing the power of the light within us. We all possess an ability make others feel warm and welcome, just like the Sun!

Journal Exercise for Renewal

Reflect over the time that has passed since the Winter Solstice, which was during December 21st of 2022. What progress have you made? Where can you continue to grow? Where can you be more supported? What are you grateful for on this day? How have you been blessed over the last six months? What small miracles have you experienced?  Take time to clarify your goals, release any stagnant energy, and invite renewed vitality into your life. Embrace the sun's energy as a catalyst for personal growth and transformation!

Consciously Connect to the Sun

Pay homage to the sun by waking up early to witness the sunrise or staying up to watch the sunset. Create sun-themed art and decorations to infuse your surroundings with its vibrant energy. You can also take some time to bask in the sun and thank it for its warmth (with SPF on of course)!

Build and Wear a Flower Crown

Crowns made of flowers and foliage were often worn during ancient Summer Solstice celebrations. They represent love, fertility, and abundance. Gather your favorite flowers and build your own crown to wear today! You will need floral wire and tape!

Immerse Yourself in Nature

Take a moment to appreciate the blooming flowers, lush greenery, and the sweet fruits of nature. Plan an outdoor activity such as hiking, picnicking, or organizing a gathering in a local park or campground to immerse yourself in the beauty and vitality of nature.

Build a Solstice Altar

Collect items to show your appreciate for the sun and display them on an outdoor or indoor table! This can include crystals like rose quartz and sun stone, bright, warm colored flowers like Sunflowers, Summer fruits like cherries and strawberries, yellow candles, and any other items that make you feel connected to the sun! Use your creativity!

Light a Sacred Fire

Fire has long been associated with the Summer Solstice, symbolizing transformation, purification, and the power of the sun. Building a bonfire or lighting candles can evoke a sense of warmth, light, and renewal. Gather around the flames with friends and loved ones, or solo, and feel gratitude for the abundant blessings in your lives.

Wishing you all a bright and enlightening day!
